The Apple Watch is barely three months old, but that is not stopping rumors from popping up about what features could show up in the next device.

According to the latest rumor, the next Apple Watch could come with a camera for making FaceTime calls. We've seen wearable devices from Samsung with attached cameras, but they didn't turn out well as one would have hoped. So the big question right now is whether or not Apple can do better.

A camera on the Apple Watch could work for several other aspects outside of video calling. We like the idea of the camera on the watch being used to unlock the device via face recognition means. Furthermore, it could even unlock an iPhone, but this would require the Apple Watch being connected to the phone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

We're not certain how many consumers would want a camera on a watch due to how the public reacted to Google Glass. A watch with a camera could be easily used to take photos or videos of someone without them knowing, and with new privacy laws in the United States and other parts of the world, this could be cause for trouble.

Outside of the camera, the rumor also claims the new Apple Watch could launch with improved Wi-Fi. This would be made possible with an all new Wi-Fi chipset and not just software changes alone.

Having better Wi-Fi could make for a wearable that does not rely too much on the iPhone. At the moment, that is the main thing holding back wearable devices because they are required to be tethered to a smartphone to work properly.

We yearn for the day when wearable devices can do everything that is needed without having to be connected to a smartphone or any other device.

If Apple is indeed looking into an upgraded version of its watch, then we should expect it to hit store shelves in 2016.
