James Gunn just revealed the title for the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel: "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
It may seem anti-climactic, but to the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it bears high significance. The director confirmed the title via his Facebook account, with TIME reporting that the name is a direct reference to Star Lord's Awesome Mix Vol. 1. In fact, the soundtrack has been a crucial part of the movie, both during production and in the final cut.

The title of the sequel was confirmed by Gunn after Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, accidentally announced it during an "Ant-Man" press conference. Gunn happily played along, to which the Marvel director pointed out how the online detectives used their creativity in guessing the name, with Consequence of Sound reporting how they used only the fonts on a photo of the script's title page.
On the same Facebook post, he also said how the first tile is already a mouthful, so to add a couple or three more words would just give the audience a hard time.
However, the second movie has been rumored to dabble with family, more specifically will tackle Star Lord's dad. Cinema Blend reported how James Gunn said in an interview that this sequel will be more emotional, even after the already-emotional ending of "Guardians."
The best thing about James Gunn is that since he is used to doing indie movies like "Slither," when given a big budget, he works wonders, and "Guardians of the Galaxy" is one example. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is still on its preproduction period, so there is little known about it, but one thing that the fans can be sure of is that when the sequel comes out on May 5, 2017, it will pack as mean a punch as its predecessor did, perhaps even stronger.
