The media conference was attended by cast members Aaron Kwok, Chang Chen, Chiling Lin, Vanness Wu, Wang Baoqiang, and Lam Suet. Missing from the promotions for the upcoming fim was Jaycee Chan, whose role in the film has not been cut.

On stage, the "Monk Comes Down the Mountain" cast showed how it is to have fun playing games, which included an app guessing actors' ages.

The "Monk Comes Down the Mountain" trailer was also shown at the media conference, but Jaycee did not appear.

Meanwhile, actress Lin Chi-ling received praises from Kaige, who said she was an underrated actress.

"When she comes across a suitable role, she becomes a fantastic performer," Kaige said.

In response, Chi-ling said, "The male god of my heart is the director!" apparently touched by the director's words.

"Monk Comes Down the Mountain" tells the story of two powerful kung fu masters played by Aaron Kwok and Chang Chen.

According to Aaron, he will have many war scenes in the film. As for Chang Chen, he said he had to learn Baijiquan, a kind of martial arts, for his role.

"There are many powerful martial artists in this film. Besides the actors, the action choreographers are also top-notched!" Chang Chen said.

Wang Baoqiang was also asked about his close friend and "Detective Dee" star Deng Chao, who was rumored to be cheating.

"Rumors are rumors. Please do not believe them," said Baoqiang, frowing.

The "Monk Comes Down the Mountain" trailer was dubbed in English before it was released in order to draw the attention of international audiences.

"Monk Comes Down the Mountain" producers previously said that the film, set to hit screens on July 3, has become the first Chinese film with a countdown prologue created by Canadian company IMAX Corp. There remains only two Hollywood blockbusters in history who have had such prologues. They are "Godzilla" and "Fast and Furious 7."

"Monk Comes Down the Mountain" is Chen's first kung fu film in his 30-year career in moviemaking, according  to China Entertainment News.
