Avril Lavigne is once again in the spotlight, but this time, the reason is not good.

The Canadian singer-songwriter revealed for the first time in front of the camera about how she is fighting Lyme disease. And the good news is, the Sk8er Boi singer said "I believe that I will come out of this healthier and stronger than I was before."

During her interview with Good Morning America, Lavigne, all teared up, narrated her battle which began in her tour in Los Angeles last year.

"I was in Los Angeles, literally, like the worst time in my life and I was seeing, like, every specialist and literally, the top doctors, and they were so stupid, and they would pull up their computer and be like, "chronic fatigue syndrome," or "Why don't you try to get out of bed Avril, and just play the piano? Are you depressed?'"

The 30-year-old singer consulted various doctors for eight months until someone finally pinpointed her condition.

Lavigne added, "I actually knew I had it the whole time, probably since the summer, and was just up against a lot of doctors telling me, 'You're crazy, some of them were like, 'It doesn't exist.'"

"I was like, 'But this is happening to me.'"

Daily Mail reported that many people infected with this disease are not diagnosed at all and mistake it for an infection. After getting bitten by a tick two to 30 days later, the person will feel the symptoms similar to flu, such as fatigue and muscle and joint pains.

However, the disease further develops into more complications. The person might eventually have difficulty in sleeping, hearing, seeing, and even digesting. Also, some might even develop facial palsy.

Avril Lavigne first went to public with her disease last April with People Magazine. There, she shared, ""I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying."

Realizing that her sickness was caused by a tick bite, Levigne was bedridden for months at her home in Ontario where her mom took care of her along with her husband, Nickelback member Chad Kroeger.

Currently out of danger, Lavigne is now back with her song "Fly," with all the net proceeds being donated the Special Olympics.
