A new TV series is in town. MTV's "Scream" 2015, premiering tonight on the youth channel, is inspired by the '90s iconic horror flick of the same name.

According to "Scream" producers, the new slasher TV series will not veer far from the original story, but the new instalment will be a much scarier version. "Scream" 2015 uses modern technology to depict a more eerie atmosphere and capture the attention of today's youth.

MTV's "Scream" 2015 stars Tracy Middendorf as Maggie Duval, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey Jensen, Bobby Campo as Seth Branson, Willa Fitzgerald as Emma Duval, and Bella Thorne as Nina Patterson.

Bella Thorne in "Scream" 2015 is highly-reminiscent of the films where a known actress kicks off the story by getting killed off the bat.

"I remember when they brought me the script I was like, 'If you can do this well, this could be amazing.' And it is. It's very well-written," said Thorne in an interview.

The 17-year-old actress/singer/author is perfect in kicking off "Scream" 2015 as she is one of the most in-demand young stars in this generation. She appeared on Disney's "Shake It Up!" for three seasons, has been in several films, recorded music, writes for a YA book series plus she is set to star in the movie "Midnight Sun" together with Patrick Schwarzenegger, according to The Associated Press.

In a Daily Mail report, Thorne is shown giving her thoughts on "Scream" 2015.

"Scream" 2015 is reportedly set in a small town named Lakewood. Local teens begin experiencing terror as a slew of dead bodies start piling up in the town. The murders begin when the Lakewood teens are haunted by their past after a cyber-bullying YouTube video goes viral.

The original "Scream" movie in 1996 has been linked to several crimes in the past, making people wonder if "Scream" 2015 is a good idea for today's highly-influenced youth.

According to The Inquisitr, several copycat murders have been blamed on the original "Scream" movie following its debut.

One example is the murder of Alisson Cambier, 15. She was stabbed 30 times by Thierry Jaradin, 24, who dressed up with a Scream costume during the murder.

Another true story is the murder of a mother named Gina Castillo. She was stabbed by her own son Mario Padilla, 17, who used a screwdriver and knives in the murder. Padilla and his cousin later admitted that the murder was inspired by the movie "Scream."

Despite the true stories, "Scream" 2015 has had a warm welcome from viewers.
