With a less-than-flourishing career, Mishca Barton could be facing a home foreclosure.

The actress, who shot to fame with the hit series, "The O.C." could lose her Beverly Hills mansion if she doesn't manage to immediately fork out US$100,000 in back mortgage payments.

The troubled 28-year old star received a default notice of the payments she has skipped and was notified of the foreclosure process.

In 2005, Barton bought the massive 1.2 acre mansion for US$6.4 million, with a US$4.2 million loan. At the time the home was purchased, the actress was still riding on the fame of her now-defunct series. However, due to some personal and financial troubles after the show went off air and, apparent lack of big projects as of late, Barton might not be able to save her 8 bedroom 11 bath home.

In 2007, Barton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, drug possession, and driving without a valid license. She was released on a US$10,000 bail.

"I don't know what to say about it, except that I'm not perfect and I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again" she shared on a 2008 guesting in Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

In 2010, her New York landlord sued her for failing to pay rent for three months.

Currently, Barton has been acting in small projects with not much pay - incomparable to the big money she was raking in with "The O.C." Barton is currently playing Ms. Monica in the TV movie "Gutsy Frog".

Barton has been trying to sell the house since 2010, and even re-listed it in 2011. However, there have been no prospective buyers.

Last year, in an attempt to keep her head above water, Barton leased the property for US$35,000 per month, but the effort proved to be too late.

Barton has yet to comment about the impending foreclosure.
