High-scoring guard Monta Ellis and the Indiana Pacers are reportedly engaged in "serious talks" with regards to a possible signing of the former Lanier High School standout, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

The offer is said to be a three-year deal worth $32 million plus, something that is significantly higher than the three-year, $25 million contract he signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2013.

Ellis opted out of his final season with the Mavs, where he is supposed to earn $8.7 million, to explore free agency. The Pacers are the first team to inquire about him and it seems like he is already decided to accept the proposal.

At 29 years old, Ellis is already a 10-year veteran as he came into the NBA straight out of high school. He had been one of the best backcourt scorers in the league and was the Golden State Warriors main man before Stephen Curry arrived.

Among this summer's crop of free agent veterans, Ellis is considered as one of the best offensive guards after averaging almost 19 points a game in his two seasons in Dallas.

The Pacers are hoping to pair him with their resident All-Star swingman Paul George, who is set to come back in full form for Indiana this October. The combination of George and Ellis could really generate excitement among Pacers fans as team president Larry Bird allegedly wanted the lineup to be smaller and to play at a much faster pace, much like the Warriors.

Ellis would be perfect in such environment.

Indianapolis Star reported that a dinner meeting between the two parties was already held in a "downtown Indianapolis steakhouse" on Wednesday night. Ellis came with his wife while Bird was with GM Kevin Pritchard and coach Frank Vogel.

Presently, Indiana is sporting George Hill and Rodney Stuckey at the backcourt. Stuckey is an unrestricted free agent himself, but the Pacers are yet to contact him for a possible re-signing.

Rumors are swirling that Bird is no longer interested with Stuckey because of the possibility of getting Ellis.

Meanwhile, SB Nation indicated that the Washington Wizards are interested in offering Stuckey a deal to compensate for the impending loss of superstar forward Paul Pierce to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Pierce has opted out of his contract with the Wizards this offseason and all indications are pointing toward a reunion with his former champion coach Doc Rivers in L.A.

Stuckey has yet to respond to Washington's proposal but is expected to hear from Indiana as well before making his decision.
