NBA Trade Rumors: Cavs Eyeing Tayshaun Prince, Mo Williams

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly eyeing to sign up two veteran role players this summer to shore up their roster for the upcoming season and continue their quest for an NBA title. They are unrestricted free agents Tayshaun Prince and Mo Williams.

Prince, who had returned to the Detroit Pistons last February after a roller-coaster 2014-2015 where he played for three teams in a single season, is a veteran player with above average defensive prowess and also a decent scorer. His extremely long wingspan allows him to cover a lot of ground. However, his slim built of 215 pounds being a 6-foot-9 small forward makes him somewhat of a mismatch in a man-to-man defense as well.

But the Cavs are looking to stabilize their bench, which is something that the 35-year-old, 13-year veteran can provide. Prince is a high-IQ player that comes with championship pedigree, as per Bleacher Report, which is someone that coach David Blatt could definitely maximize.

NBC Sports' Pro Basketball Talk reported that Cleveland had recently reached out to Prince and is planning to offer him a veteran's minimum. If Prince wants to have another shot at a title then it is something that he should really consider.

Meanwhile, Williams is a former Cavalier who had been LeBron James' sidekick for three seasons in Cleveland. As the Cavs are interested in him, the feeling is reportedly mutual, as per the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

The 32-year-old scoring guard, who can play both the 1 and 2 positions, had always been known for his offensive skills and he could certainly contribute to Cleveland's bench scoring along with J.R. Smith, if the latter chooses to stay in Ohio.

And due to Smith's impending departure, the Cavs are really looking for someone to fill up the offensive slack, something that Williams could instantly provide. The 6-foot-1 former Alabama standout averaged 17.2 points and 6 assists in 27 games for the Charlotte Hornets last season as a substitute.

Unlike Smith, the 12-year vet is not exclusively a three-point threat but is an overall scoring menace for any opposing team. He can also distribute the ball well and orchestrate an offense efficiently if he wants to.

If the Cavs are able to get these two hard-nosed veterans, then their bench would surely improve by leaps and bounds from what it was last season.
