Hopeful "Pinocchio" fans almost got what they wanted when the news of the series' lead stars, Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk dating broke out. However, before fans could celebrate the birth of a new adorable Korean couple, representatives of both stars flatly denied the reports.

Unlike Lee Min Ho and Miss A's Suzy dating reports that were confirmed to be true, the dating reports revolving Jong Suk and Shin Hye are nothing but baseless rumors. If anything, reps of both stars claimed they are nothing more but "very close friends."

"The two people were acquainted with each other before they appeared together in the TV drama 'Pinocchio' and became closer while working together," stated Jong Suk's agency, Wellmade Yedang Inc., in a report by the Korea Observer, adding, "They are not lovers but friends."

The dating reports came after photos of the two hanging out together in and outside of Korea emerged. Reports made by Dispatch claims the pair had been going on late night drive dates with Jong Suk's two cars. In addition, they both were spotted in Hawaii.

"They only went abroad together for their photo shoot after their drama; they are not a couple. They were close friends even before they filmed Pinocchio. So, I think they were misunderstood," added Jong Suk's agency, "Lee Jong Suk didn't even know photos of them were taken. Many said that they looked good together while filming their drama. So, that's why it was probably perceived that way, but they are just close friends."

Following the numerous reports and paparazzi photos released, "Pinocchio" fans immediately went on a rampage - a happy rampage that is proclaiming their adoration of the newly born couple. In fact, following the reports made, Elle Korea released a number of photos of the two stars on their site Wednesday morning. Some of the fashionable photos may be seen here.

However, such happiness was short lived given the statements from both stars' agencies. Aside from Jong Suk's agency, Shin Hye's agency also denied the dating reports.

"What we're saying as her agency is not an explicit denial, but as far as we know, the two are just friends, very close friends," stated Shin Hye's rep in a report made by Soompi. They had also cleared up the reports on the pair dating in Hawaii. "I was with her for the fan meeting, and they didn't have any reason to meet. She didn't even have the time to do so."

"Pinocchio" fans must not lose hope however as this "close friendship" could blossom into a full blown romance.
