According to English News CN the China's children malnutrition basis is through their stunted height as well as weight of their body. Now, the China government is doing something to at least lessen the condition not just to adults but to children also. Chang Jile, NHFPC official shared during the prescon that they are already subsidizing the healthful meals in rural students.
Malnutrition has great impact especially to children. Malnourished child according to Orphan Nutrition will experience illness, weight loss, and delays in development. This is because the child has inadequate intake of calories, essential nutrients, as well as protein that the body actually need in order to grow and become healthy. The nutrient deficiencies might lead to long term and short term complications.
What is the difference of long-term from short-term deficiencies?
The long-term complications include the cognitive implications such as the following:
Learning disabilities
Attention deficit disorder
Reduced the ability to solve problems
Impaired school performance
Reduced language development
Decreased IQ scores
Reduced social skills
Memory deficiency
It means that malnutrition affects directly the brain development of the child. The bone growth is limited because of not enough nutrition to support it. While on the other hand, short-term complication includes immune complications. If a child is a malnourished his body is not capable of fighting against diseases. He becomes susceptible to diseases which makes his body weaker. If the child lives in a place where sanitation is poor, he will become vulnerable to infection since his immune system is weak.
It took almost two years before the researchers finished their report. The report presented was based on the current data coming from the National Cancer Center, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and some other institutes.
