Health authorities from the municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said they have enhanced quarantine and monitoring systems of medical and health institutions that can detect early warning signs if the virus begins to spread in Beijing.
Chinese health authorities said they have focused their training on viral testing and control such as case reporting, infection control, virus screening and other medical guidelines to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus in the capital.
Officials from the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control have asked the Chinese people to not panic, assuring them that response efforts are in place.
Health authorities at Beijing CDC said they have put in place preventive measures with a system that can locate the whereabouts of a patient after leaving Beijing.
The CDC has advised travelers to infected regions to not make contact with infected people as well as animals in the wild.
China's government said people and cargoes arriving in the country from infected regions will be quarantined and individuals will be required to go through medical checks.
Close to 1,000 people have died from the Ebola virus in four countries as of July 27: Liberia, Guinea, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Around 1,323 Ebola cases have been recorded according to reports released by the World Health Organization on Thursday.
Ebola is a deadly illness with a death rate of up to 90 percent, according to WHO. The virus is transmitted through contact with tissue and bodily fluid of infected people or animals.
