The Fire Phone released by Amazon June 18 offers unique features that grab the attention of the average smartphone user.

Amazon knew from the get-go users with smartphones like Samsung's Galaxy series and Apple's iPhone wouldn't ditch their devices for the Fire Phone if it didn't have anything special, according to the Utah People's Post.

Instead of making the product cheaper, Amazon opted for features it thinks consumers would want in the future.

The phone gives users a free year of Amazon Prime, a membership program offering an increasing collection of free books, music and movies, as well as free shipping for thousands of items.

The phone also has the unique dynamic perspective feature that offers a 3D representation of the content being viewed on screen. The dynamic perspective uses four cameras found at the four corners of the device to track the user's head movements and adjust the image being shown accordingly to produce a simulated 3D effect.

The Firefly feature can be used by the owner to scan barcodes on items, CD's, book covers and more. There is also an audio-recognition component to identify songs in the environment.

The feature can listen to the dialogue of a show and can name the series and even give access to the specific scene on Amazon. The user is also asked if whether he'd like to buy the content or not.

The phone also sports a 2.2 Ghz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2 GB worth of RAM, a 13-megapixel back camera and a front camera.

The screen is 4.7 inches with 720 x 1280 pixels and has a pixel density of 312 pixels per square inch, according to GSM Arena.

The Amazon Fire Phone retails at US$649.99 for a 32 GB model and US$749.99 for 64 GB version.
