The Great Wall of China is the country's most famous tourist attraction, not only known locally but throughout the world. Its slow diminish has been caused by the changing times, battling different types of weather conditions and the fear of human interest where they took some of its bricks to build their own houses. According to Sinodaily, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is slowly eroding.

The Great Wall of China is said to have a stretch of 8,850 kilometers or approximately 5,500 miles in length. Its section that is actually made of wall is 6,259 kilometers in length and trenches of 359 kilometers. The Great Wall is seen to extend from Shanhaiguan in the east all the way to Top Guan to the west. While it is not considered as a "single unbroken structure," its view from space, which is sometimes claimed by many as a continuous long stretch of wall protecting the east, all the way to the western side of China.
According to the Great Wall of China Society, the old age of the structure caused it to naturally fade and get worn, while some living plants and trees that have grown alongside the structure caused its foundation to weaken. Dong Yaohui of the Great Wall of China Society, said "Even though some of the walls are built of bricks and stones, they cannot forever endure the harsh beating of wind and rain over time." Towers and other security structures built within the Great Wall, most of them have collapsed in time, while some succumbed to torrential rains during the summer.
Tourism has also contributed to the damage acquired by the Great Wall. Under the Chinese Regulations, anyone who is caught taking parts of the wall like bricks and metals, either for souvenir or personal consumption, can be fined of up to 5,000 Yuan. In Lulong county, local residents take part in stealing slabs with Chinese characters and sell it for as low as 30 Yuan or approximately $4.80 per piece.
