The 2014 Gamescom will be held from Aug. 11 through Aug. 15 in Cologne. The event will officially start on Aug. 4 with the worldwide reveal of the multiplayer mode of "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare."

Considering that Activision, developers of the "Call of Duty" franchise, and Microsoft have a long-running partnership, a heavy Xbox One presence is expected, according to Inquisitr.

Microsoft's Xbox briefing will begin at 8 a.m. on Aug. 5.

The briefing  and multiplayer reveal will be shown live on Xbox LIVE for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox.com and Windows Phone. The event and after-presentation details will be also livestreamed by the Xbox Twitch channel all throug the week.

Games that were previously announced for released in fall will reveal further details at the conference. The list of games set to be shown are "Forza Horizon 2," "Halo: the Master Chief Collection," "Sunset Overdrive," "Evolve," "FIFA 15," Project Spark," "Killer Instinct: Season 2" and "Call of Duty."

After intentionally missing the E3 games conference, Remedy Entertainment will preview "Quantum Break," an upcoming third-person action game exclusive to the Xbox One.

There's a slight possibility that "Fable Legends," "Scalebound" and "D4"  will also be announced. Some games made by independent developers such as "Ori and the Blind Forest" and "Below" are more likely to be revealed.

There might also be an announcement for a white Xbox One to be released as the color was exclusive only to employees working on the console.

The performance of the Xbox One at Gamescom will determine the future of the platform. Though PlayStation 4 is leading in sales, the distance between the two is not alarmingly far apart.
