Church of Scientology poster boy Tom Cruise might be close to leaving the religion, and it is all going to be thanks to his adorable daughter Suri Cruise, 9.

Speculations of Tom Cruise leaving Scientology came out following a Gawker report with a link to Star magazine revealing his tearful phone conversation with Suri.

"She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it," according to a source from Star. "That's when Tom realized he's never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up."

"It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it," the source added. "They talk on the phone and video chat, but it's not the same."

Tom Cruise has long been the most famous member of Scientology. Because of this, the 53-year-old has often become the target of stories about the church, which originally started as a secular philosophy by L. Ron Hubbard. In 1953, the Church of Scientology was born when Hubbard formed the church in Camden, New Jersey.

Though the A-list Hollywood actor has been a member of the religion for so long, Tom Cruise leaving Scientology might actually happen since "the church doesn't want him close" to non-members Suri and ex-wife Katie Holmes.

"They can't stand that their own poster boy isn't raising his child in the church," said the source.

"If they label Suri a suppressive person (a Scientology term for an enemy of the church), as they've been known to do with dissenters, that would make it hard for Tom to have a relationship with her," the source added. "He's between a rock and a hard place, but he's finally making a choice to put his daughter first."

According to Hollywood Life, it is not only Suri's ballet that Cruise had missed out on.

"Tom has missed birthdays, school events, all the special parts of childhood that happen so fast and are gone before you know it. Suri is not a baby anymore; she is fully aware that her father isn't around much," according to the insider. "When she speaks to him on the phone, it's becoming more and more like she's talking to a stranger."

Tom Cruise leaving Scientology has not been confirmed yet since the actor has not made any comment on the issue so far, according to The Inquisitr.

Despite all this speculation, Newser suggested that the news of Tom Cruise leaving Scientology might all come to nothing since a similar report has been made by Star in 2012. The old report said that Cruise had been close to quitting the religion after it hurt his public image and destroyed relationships with exes Holmes, Nicole Kidman, and Penelope Cruz, reported Radar at the time.
