China Meteorological Administration (CMA) on Tuesday issued an emergency response notice for provinces in southeast China and directed local authorities to provide the necessary services to enable the public deal with two approaching typhoons.
The typhoons, which formed in the Pacific Ocean over the past few days, have been slowly moving toward the coastal parts of the country and gaining in intensity. The meteorological administration has issued a yellow alert for the approaching typhoons. Yellow represents the third most severe warning on the country's four-tier weather warning system.

Typhoon Linfa, a tropical storm, is currently moving towards Fujian and Guangdong provinces at about 10 kilometers per hour. Typhoon Linfa is reported to have caused heavy rains in the Philippine's Luzon Island as well as the southern parts of Taiwan on Monday. Meteorologists have announced that parts of Fujian and Guangdong will experience gale and some areas in Taiwan will experience heavy rains as the typhoon approaches. Typhoon Linfa will be the 10th typhoon that the country experiences this year when it touches down between Wednesday and Thursday.
Closely on the heels of Typhoon Linfa is Typhoon Chan-hom. Chan-hom reportedly started out as a strong tropical storm before developing into a typhoon on Monday. Meteorologists say Typhoon Chan-hom, which is moving northwest on the Pacific Ocean at 20 kilometers per hour, is likely to affect islands in southwest Japan, gaining strength to become a super typhoon before it makes a landfall in Fujian and Zhejiang between Friday and Saturday.
According to Mashable, Typhoon Chan-hom may possibly make a landfall in parts of northern Taiwan and could also affect Shanghai and Wenzhou.
Meanwhile, as Typhoon Chan-hom leaves around Guam and moves towards China, another typhoon is forming in the Pacific Ocean. Typhoon Nangka, which is moving at about 13 mph, has been gaining in intensity as it moved towards the Mariana Islands. Authorities have issued an alert for islands on the path of the typhoon, including Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan, according to Pacific News Daily.
