As Jason Terry's career is coming to a close, the veteran guard is reportedly contemplating on returning to the Dallas Mavericks, the team where he won his one and only NBA championship in 2011, as reported by the Star-Telegram.

The 38-year-old Terry said that he is planning to retire two seasons from now and he is welcoming the idea of finishing his career in Dallas. He spent half of his 16-year career with the Mavericks, finding most success with the franchise as well, which culminated with him hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy four years ago against the Miami Heat super team composed of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.

Nicknamed "The Jet," he spent one more season with Dallas after the title run before signing a multi-year deal with the Boston Celtics prior to the 2012-2013 season. He then found himself being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets during the next two years.

Reportedly, Cuban also wants him back. CBS Sports reported that Dallas had already reached out to Terry.

"They want me back. But there have been no negotiations whatsoever," the 2009 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee said. "It's on them. I'm going to let them make the decision."

However, Terry has not put aside the possibility of staying in Houston either. He averaged seven points and almost two assists in 21 minutes per game for the Rockets last season and proved to be a reliable veteran presence off the bench and in the locker room.

"I love what we accomplished in Houston, and they're going to have a chance," he said. "They're going to come to the table, also, so my options are open."

As per Bleacher Report's Stephen Babb, the Mavericks is the best potential landing spot for the free-agent gunner this summer.

Babb said that the move would be "the closest thing to a storybook ending" for the shooting guard's career. Both parties are said to be benefiting from a reunion as Terry would be joining a coach and a system that he is already familiar with while Dallas will get a tried and tested player that is affordable and effective.
