Serena Williams booked a place in the Wimbledon 2015 finals after trouncing Maria Sharapova in straight sets with a score of 6-2 6-4. The American, who will face Garbine Muguruza of Spain on Saturday, extends her head-to-head advantage against the Russian with 17 wins.

The World no. 1 didn't waste time in the first set, taking advantage over Sharapova's weak second serve and overpowering her from the baseline. Serving for the set, Williams fired two aces and two backhand winners, leaving Maria looking so dejected.

You would expect Sharapova to change tactics a bit in the second set, but the Russian stayed on her game. Down 2-3 and a break, the 28-year-old hit her fifth double fault to give Williams the lead. From then on, it was advantage Williams who continued to fire winners from the baseline and rammed a powerful serve to end the match in just an hour and 19 minutes.

During the post-match press conference, Sharapova was asked about the possibility of using a different strategy to beat Williams, but the fourth seed was adamant.

"I'm not going to come out and become a serve-and-volleyer or a chip-and-charge type of player. No, you're not going to see that from me," she said as reported by The Guardian.

Williams, on the other hand, was simply thrilled to reach the finals for the 8th time in her career. If she beats Muguruza, she only needs the US Open to complete the Golden Grand Slam, a feat achieved by winning all grand slams in one year. She emphasized, however, on simply having fun and not dwelling too much on what could change tennis history - an advice budding tennis players could benefit from.

"You know, I'm at a position where I don't need to win another Wimbledon," the Champion told the Daily Mail. "Every time I step out on court, the practice court, the match court, I do look at it as a more fun time because it's not as much stressful as it was. Getting to 18 titles was super stressful for me. It was fun, but I was so stressed out. After that, I've just been really enjoying myself."
