Mount Sinai issued a statement saying that the patient was experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms and running a high fever. Doctors are working overtime to determine the cause of the patient's symptoms. Test results are expected to be back after two days.

Dr. Jeremy Boal, medical chief of Mount Sinai, stated that the patient's symptoms are most likely not from the Ebola virus, but resemble a more common condition.

At least six people who have returned from West Africa and experiencing Ebola-like symptoms have been tested for the virus. Reports said none of those tested has been confirmed to suffer from Ebola.

Meanwhile, an American missionary, who is suffering from Ebola after contracting the virus in Liberia, is expected to arrive on Tuesday in Atlanta. He will be taken straight to an Atlanta's Emory University Hospital.

Missionary Nancy Writebol was expected to travel and board an air ambulance with an isolation unit in place on Tuesday. The plane will land at a military reserve base. From there, she will be rushed to an Atlanta hospital.

Bruce Johnson, president of the SIM USA, where Writebol worked in Liberia, said that Writebol is being cared for by the doctors on the site. However, she is getting weaker by the day.

Her husband remains optimistic and told the doctors that her appetite is coming back. Writebol recently asked for soup.

Writebol was one of the two Americans stricken by the disease while helping the Ebola virus victims in West Africa.

To date, more than 700 people have been killed in the latest Ebola virus outbreak in three countries in West Africa, namely, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
