Google Removes Horrific "Bomb Gaza" Apps from Play Store

Google pulled out two Android Apps from Google Play Store that glorify Israel's murderous bombardment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The apps were removed after angry Twitter users criticized Google for being insensitive and allowing the apps to go on sale.

Bomb Gaza, one of the apps, was designed for Android phones and tablets. It was downloaded more than 1,000 times since its first release on July 29.

According to App Annie, a business intelligence company and analyst firm, Bomb Gaza players drop bombs and avoid killing civilians. The game will end if there are too many civilians are killed or its rage meter reaches its limits.

It seems the app was designed to offend. Bomb Gaza mirrors the current conflict between Israel and Gaza where at least 1,800 Palestinians, almost all of them civilians and many of them children, have been killed by the Israelis.

Outraged comments about the insensitivity of the game exploded on the game's review section.

The maturity setting of the game is low, which encourages younger gamers to download and play it. The maturity setting helps to protect younger gamers from violent and harmful game content.

PLAYFTW, the game developer behind Bomb Gaza, released a second version of the game that added an Israeli theme music.

Using the report button, angry commenters asked Google to take it down immediately.

Aside from Bomb Gaza, another game called Gaza Assault: Code Red was removed for glorifying Israel's assault on innocent civilians.

Gaza Assault: Code Red was released at Google Play Store on July 17. Gamers need to target terrorist cells hidden within Gaza.

Google took one week before pulling out the apps.

“We remove apps from Google Play that violate our policies,” said Google spokesman in confirming the removal of the controversial apps.
