His candidacy now makes it 15 candidates gunning for the GOP Presidential nomination. Experts say Governor Walker is among the favorites to get the Republican nomination.
He is considered as a conservative politician who is also a son of a Baptist clergyman. Walker hopes to secure a favorable vote from the Iowa state where he spent his childhood years.
Iowan Governor Terry Branstad, who is also a Republican, commented that Walker is a leader who had made some hard decisions on issues that affected Wisconsin. However, he said that his fellow Iowan Republicans would like to make sure that Walker can stand up against Democrat Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, according to the New York Times.
Former New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg said that "credibility" will most likely be the criteria used by Republican voters in his state to measure Walkers' suitability for the presidential nomination.
Many are reportedly concerned about Walker's ability to handle the country's national and international issues. The Republican presidential hopeful has immersed himself in various instructions pertaining to countries in the Middle East and even Russia. Walker has also been given some lessons with regards to his country's policies on human rights and immigration. He also had a personal meeting with various American and foreign leaders where they discussed various topics.
Governor Walker projects himself as a politician who is in favor of reducing taxes and government expenditures, including financial aid to the poor, according to the Washington Post. However, he is also accused of sponsoring the construction of a new playing arena for the state's basketball team - The Milwaukee Bucks. The construction will reportedly entail the use of $250 million from the state's public funds. This is just one of the issues that the governor is currently dealing with in Wisconsin.
