Rookie Magazine's "Ask a Grown (Man or Woman)" featured Stephen Colbert, who gave some heartfelt advice to the magazine's young  readers.

Colbert answered four questions from girls on topics about life, love and misogyny in the short video released on the magazine's website.

One of the questions was "why are boys mean?" Colbert honestly responded saying there is a reason boys do what they do and that is "to get your attention."

He also said that sometimes, boys do not realize that what they are doing is harmful because he does not think they "mean to be harmful." So, he advised girls to ignore that "mean" person.

On a separate question, Colbert was asked why a particular boy always lies to a girl.

Colbert told the girl who asked the question to not waste her time with anyone who "lies to you."

On another question, Colbert answered the general curiosity of how do people know when a person "likes you."

His response could be useful to everyone. He said that a person who is interested in you would want to "hear your stories, cares how you feel, and wants to make your day better."

"One nice definition of love, I think is one person's happiness is more important than your own," he added.

Colbert appeared in Rookie's online series for a couple of times, joining other celebrities, including Jon Hamm and Seth Rogen, in answering viewers' questions.

The clip, posted on Wednesday, is just one of the very rare instances where people can see the conservative TV personality break his character. People are used to seeing him as a serious icon when he dons his alter ego for the "Colbert Report." Colbert, however, gave a new glimpse of his personality in the new video clip, according to Yahoo! News.

The public responded well in his video. In Reddit, Sophie Kleeman, editor at Policy Mic, said that Colbert seemed to be the "dad or uncle we all secretly wish we had sometimes."
