The actress reportedly referred to that moment in her life as a "traumatic period." The event led to her separation with then boyfriend and "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson, reported The Daily Mail.
The August issue of the magazine, which comes out next week, features Kristen Stewart dressed in a floral sweater and distressed jeans. The "American Ultra" star reportedly discussed "starting over after one bats**t crazy year."
"I lit my universe on fire and I watched it burn,' she said. 'Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral," she told Marie Claire US.
Headlines of Kristen Stewart cheating on Pattinson took place in July 2012 as photos of her with Rupert, 44, appeared online showing her making out and embracing the director while out in Los Angeles.
The Kristen Stewart cheating scandal was perhaps one of the biggest in recent Hollywood history as Rupert had then been married to model Liberty Ross. He has two children with the model. Meanwhile, Kristen was on her fourth year with her relationship with British actor Robert Pattinson, 29.
Well the Kristen Stewart cheating incident did not destroy the actress, she told the magazine. Stewart may have stepped back from the spotlight for quite a while, but it has allowed her perspective in her life.
"I'm really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater," she said. "That's a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer. And it is f***ing awesome."
"Between ages 15 and 20, it was really intense. I was constantly anxious. I was kind of a control freak. If I didn't know how something was going to turn out, I would make myself ill, or just be locked up or inhibited in a way that was really debilitating," she added.
"Lately, I've been doing less of the "I'm sooooo sorry" and more of the 'No'," she said.
It appears Stewart is also not apologizing for who she wants to date. Kristen has reportedly been dating personal assistant Alicia Cargile for months now.
The "Clouds of Sils Maria" actress also said that the cheating scandal has made her "smarter and calmer," according to Yahoo. "I'm really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater."
Though Kristen has yet to address her relationship with Cargile, the couple has been spotted hanging in Los Angeles a few times while holding hands.
Despite news headlines saying Kristen Stewart has opened up about her past, Gossip Cop has pointed out that Kristen never mentioned anything related to the cheating scandal, according to The Inquisitr.
Still for her fans, it's good that Stewart has started her life anew and it appears her career and personal life is nothing short of successful.
