The ESPYs have just concluded, and with Caitlyn Jenner listed to be awarded, two names are expected to attend: Kardashians and Jenners.
In support of their father, the Jenner sisters attended the awarding ceremony all dressed to the nines. New York Daily News reported that the 19-year-old Kendall Jenner was wearing a black Alexander Vauthier Haute, while the 17-year-old Kylie was in a mesmerizing gold dress by Shady Zeineldin. Their brother, Brody Jenner, was also present, walking the red carpet with girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter.

The Kardashians were also well represented, with Huffington Post reporting that Kim Kardashian was in the ceremonies but opted to not go through the red carpet. Luckily, via the Instagram account of her hairstylist Chris McMillan, fans got a preview of her show-stopping look. Caitlyn Jenner, a 65-year-old former Olympian, chose not to walk the red carpet, saying that she was attending for the award, not for the press coverage.
Though well-celebrated for her courage in coming out as a transgender, the awarding for the former Olympian is causing quite a stir. The San Diego Union Tribune reported that ESPY exec Maura Mandt defended the decision, saying how Bruce could have easily gone off as an American hero without putting publicizing his predicament, thus the decision to award the transgender. Well-known sportscaster Bob Costas said in an interview about how the award could have focused on someone more involved in sports, while sports commentator Frank Deford said something about Caitlyn doing something with the full support of her entire family.
Those who question the decision are mostly saying something against the decision to award Jenner, and not the fact that it was given to a transgender woman. It can be presumed that these people are simply trying to be careful with their words, but the fact that they are careful is a good enough sign that times are changing, and people are slowly accepting the reality of LGBT community becoming mainstream.
