Is there really a remedy to the unavoidable catastrophic effects of climate change? Perhaps there is now after scientists announced their plan of creating a device with carbon capture technology or the mechanism that literally sucks carbon dioxide out of the earth's atmosphere.

According to Christian Science Monitor, scientists are now gearing for a carbon capture device that could help mitigate the serious repercussions of global warming that's primarily caused by the overabundance of carbon in the atmosphere.
It is a fact that the living planet's atmosphere is only seeing a rapid increase in carbon dioxide in the passing of the day, and scientists want to do something about it. They believe that to conquer this problem, they need to focus on the root cause of global warming, and to do this, they need a technology that can literally suck carbon dioxide from the air.
The proponents of this technology belong to startup companies Carbon Engineering, Climeworks and Global Thermostat and they are wasting no time in mitigating the abrupt buildup of carbon dioxide in the living planet.
However, some fear that the problem with this kind of projects from startups is they usually lack support and funding from the higher-ups, specifically the government officials, as per Grist.
Until such time the three startups behind this carbon capture technology get proper support, they will mainly rely on commercial customers who are willing to join the cause in finding a potential solution to air pollution. Thus far, the biggest supporter of Global Thermostat is the CEO of Warner Music. As for Carbon Engineering, it has received significant funding from Bill Gates, while Climeworks will most likely obtain help from Audi, its former partner on a "zero-carbon e-diesel" project.
Apart from sucking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, the device will also have the capacity to transform CO2 into low-carbon fuels with the help of renewable energy, The Guardian has learned.
"How do you power global transportation in 20 years in a way that is carbon neutral?" Carbon Engineering business development manager Geoff Holmes asked, adding, "Cheap solar and wind are great at reducing emissions from the electricity. Then you are left with the transport sector."
The realization of this big project remains to be seen, but many are already optimistic of its potential. One of them is Noah Deich, of Center for Carbon Removal.
"I'm excited about direct air capture. It could be a really important technology to add to the portfolio," Deich said.
