The company not only aims to target high end consumers, but they are also competing to be recognized as the fourth largest smartphone provider, surpassing LG and claim the 3rd spot following Apple and Samsung by the year 2020.
Adam Zeng, ZTE Mobile Devices CEO, said that the United States now is their most important market because of the regions high regard for branded mobile devices. He also noted that ZTE's Axon is now the most expensive Chinese Brand mobile device made available in the United States market. Axon is primarily unlocked, giving AT&T and T-Mobile access to the handsets.
The Axon has a 5.5-inch body with a chipset installed for high quality audio as well as dual rear cameras that can take 4k video. The Axon of ZTE will also be available in China, despite designing it for its U.S. market. The last quarter of the year will be the time Axon is made available in Europe.
ZTE has been selling their mobile devices under several other brand names and it was only in 2009 that they launched their own brand under their name ZTE. ZTE made an impact in the United States in their initial brand statement and has sponsored three NBA teams, while under the project of re-branding their style for the younger generation.
Zeng hopes that their U.S. market will influence other consumers, especially in local China, where consumers become more choosy about what they buy when it comes to their mobile devices. The new Axon was officially revealed in New York on July 14, according to GSMArena.
