Cowell put One Direction together following their appearance on "The X Factor" in 2010.

According to the rumors, Syco, Cowell's music label, dropped Malik, who already moved to another Sony label, reported Entertainment Weekly.
British tabloid The Sun first detailed the rumors when they reported that Cowell made the decision "out of loyalty" to the other 1D members. According to the tabloid's inside source, Cowell even knew dropping Malik would be costly.
"It's a big move for Simon because Zayn could have a very successful solo career but his priority absolutely remains the band and this is a big statement on his part," said the insider.
The insiders initially thought that after Zayn Malik was dropped by Simon Cowell, he had moved on to another label within the Sony group and that all parties had been happy with the decision, reported Mirror.
"Simon has set up a deal that suit Zayn and One Direction. Zayn will stay in the Sony family under a different label and it's totally with Simon Cowell's blessing," said the source.
"It was just felt to be a bit difficult to have 1D and Zayn on the same label, and everyone felt it was better for him to be somewhere different," the source added. "Since leaving the band, Zayn has changed management and lawyers so it would kind of make sense for him to work with a new label team."
Insiders have claimed that Malik and Cowell are on good terms though.
"But having said that, he still gets on great with Simon. And his girlfriend Perrie Edwards is having huge success with Little Mix with Syco," according to insiders. "At the moment, while things are being finalised, Zayn is still signed to Syco."
Apparently, the rumors of Zayn Malik being dropped by Simon Cowell are false.
A Syco representative, who shared the same information to Digital Spy, has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the rumors and said that "Zayn is still with Syco," according to The Inquisitr.
Rumors have plagued Zayn Malik's music career since he left One Direction in March.
Rapper Mic Righteous has said that the 22-year-old has been banned from releasing any solo music for two years after his exit. The singer also had a falling out with music producer Naughty Boy after the producer was accused of leaking Malik's music video. There were also rumors that he is considering to delve into fashion after he was spotted at Paris Fashion Week.
Syco has released all of One Direction's four albums. They are also set on guiding Zayn Malik's solo career.
