Henn na Hotel, constructed at Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki, Japan is newly opened on Friday with 10 robots as staffs including a dinosaur receptionist.
Using Robots for work to perform multiple tasks at the hotel is not only a gimmick or to reduce expenditure, but also to use technology effectively to achieve efficiency, said Hideo Sawada, the president of the hotel. He also added that there is a great support for use of robots in work from people since manpower in Japan is decreasing with aging population. Sawada also noted that robots are staffed in stores, banks and even in the households in Japan, reported The Christian Science Monitor.

"We will make the most efficient hotel in the world," said Sawada in the news conference. He also added that "In the future, we'd like to have more than 90 percent of hotel services operated by robots," reported The Japan Times.
As the guests enter the hotel they are greeted by a multilingual humanoid robot with blinking eyelashes. A dinosaur shaped robot designed to communicate in English helps in checking by requesting the visitor to press one if he intends to check in. The guests need to use the touch panel to enter their details and press a button to check in, according to Today.
Another interesting thing about the hotel is, The rooms are not opened with keys instead robot staffs use face recognition technology to unlock the room. A robot cloak room is a special feature of the hotel where a giant robotic arm places a box through the space present in glass for the visitor to store things just like a locker. Once loaded, the box is placed back into the wall and guarded until the visitor takes it back.
Sawada noted that he wanted to highlight innovation that is the reason why he chose robotic lockers instead of other simple lockers to safeguard guests' belongings. Though robots are used for most of the tasks in the hotel, security section is taken care of only by human beings. Security cameras are installed in almost all the spots in the hotel and are monitored by personnel that are assigned for the task, reported Today.
