China Telecom Reveals VoLTE Project; Targets 2018 Launch

(Photo : Reuters) China Telecom would broaden its revenue stream if it purchases the 4G licenses being offered by the Egyptian communications ministry.
Wang Xiaochu, Chairman of China Telecom, recently revealed that the Telecom company is indeed working on VoLTE project and targets 2018 to be the launching year.
VoLTE, an acronym for Voice over LTE is used by several network carriers in the United States in order to provide better and high quality voice calls using the LTE platform, instead of the regular voice calls.

In China, the China Telecom is working on the VoLTE project in order to deliver the same quality call service to its consumers. According to China Tech News, the Chairman recently announced the breakthrough at the 7th Smart Terminal and Mobile Internet Industry Summit, saying the implementation of of VoLTE's technical testing and verification is due this year.
China Telecom's VoLTE projects will start its physical restricting in 2016, including IT, expansion of network coverage such terminals, ports, chips and even their business services. The large scale transformation is a work seem to service its consumers by the end of 2017 or the early part of 2018 for full functionality.
China Telecom is also working on an integrated fiber optic network to enhance their 2017 project. Target percentage for such transformation should reach 80 percent in order to service more communities with larger network coverage. This will be China Telecom's first major step on LTE, after acquiring accreditation and approval of their 4G application. The VoLTE project is also seen as way for China Telecom to strengthen their 4G network as the Voice over LTE project may have to depend on this.
Just recently, according to Reuters, China Telecom acquired their 4G FDD along with rival telecommunication company China Unicom. China's three major network provider include China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile Ltd., wherein the last aforementioned has been enjoying the 4G service since 2013, giving them a massive 107 million subscribers since January 2015.
In 2014, according to Global, China Telecom and Huawei successfully demonstrated their VoLTE aspirations as the next generation voice calls. Today, China Telecom is working on putting the work in progress and sees full operation by 2018.
