All good things must come to an end, and this goes for One Direction as well. Cue the death screams of the millions of fans all over the world.
Simon Cowell, the longtime mentor of the boy band, thinks it is high time that the group take a much-needed break from the music industry. In an interview after his mother's death, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that the British producer said the group has enough hits to take some time off and do the things they want. It also matters that they take time apart and see if they still want to get back as a group and work with each other more.

The alleged hiatus of the band has been a longtime rumor, which will kick off next year after their fifth album, which will span a year or so. However, Billboard reported that a representative of the group denied such rumors. The group's claims can be taken with a grain of salt, since during the time that the boy band was hard at work with their fourth album, Zayn Malik departed from the band in the middle of a concert tour.
Moreover, the statements of Cowell can be attributed to more than hits by the band. Cowell told the soon-to-be dad Louis Tomlinson to man up, since unlike most fathers, he has all the time and the capacity to be a great dad to his son. The Daily Examiner added that all these was stated after Tomlinson's estranged father, Troy Austin, wanted to be involved in the life of his soon to be born grandson.
True enough, One Direction is at the crossroads of their careers. One left to establish a solo career, one is an expectant father, while the rest of the team is just enjoying what they worked hard for. Whether they choose to take a break or not, for sure their fans will always be behind them every step of the way.
