Looks like Microsoft is on an acquisition spree ever since the present CEO Satya Nadella took charge. After the Nokia buy out, the company is all set to spread its wings and is acquiring Israeli-based startup, dealing with cyber security applications. Microsoft will reportedly shell out $320 million to seal the deal.

According to Fortune, Microsoft may soon acquire Adallom, a cyber security firm that secures popular cloud-based software-as-a-service applications such Salesforce and Microsoft Office 365. Though there is no confirmation from Microsoft so far, reports indicate that the acquisition of the Israeli based startup is expected to cost around 320 million dollars.
Adallom is a cyber security firm that provides solutions not only for corporate data but all types of other information that lies beyond the traditional perimeters of perception. However, with an increasing number of companies outsourcing the job, the importance of firms like Adallom is all set to grow. Ever since its inception, three years ago, the cyber security firm has successfully raised closed to fifty million dollars using venture funding. The investors include Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, HP Capital, and many others.
The increasing threat of leaks and hacks is forcing technology companies to take cyber security more seriously. However, this is not the only purchase that Microsoft has made. Just last week, the company acquired Aorato, another Israeli security vendor, investing 200 million dollars to get the job done.
A report on Wall Street Journal confirmed that Microsoft had already sent a letter of intent to Adallom. If this materializes, it will be the company's fourth acquisition in 2015. Revealing details on the type of work being done by Adallom, the report said that the company's major function was to monitor the use of the cloud application by individual employees, identifying patterns and using it to signal out anomalies to alert them about breaches. This plays a crucial role in averting and often addressing a security threat before it escalates to the level of a major problem.
