Is Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo trying to get close to actress Margot Robbie? That was the question on fans' minds when he went on a liking spree on Robbie's Instagram account.  

Over the past weekend, Ronaldo's eagle-eyed followers on Instagram quickly noticed when he liked four of Robbie's posts. The Daily Telegraph reports that one snap that received a double tap from the famous footballer dated way back to March 2014. Fans immediately speculated that Ronaldo spent a good deal of time browsing through the Australian actress' account. His Instagram stalking has resulted in major speculations about his intentions toward the blonde beauty.

Ronaldo is currently unattached and appears to be enjoying the single life after ending his five year relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk. The pair announced their break-up earlier this year just after the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Ronaldo had already been linked to several beauties since the split but he has so far not been seen steadily dating anybody. Unfortunately for him, if he had been planning on getting close to Robbie, he would need to get past her boyfriend.

The Mirror reports that Robbie and British director Tom Ackerly have been dating for over a year. There have also been reports that the pair may already be engaged. The 25-year old Australian beauty is best known for her work in "The Wolf of Wall Street." She also stars in the highly-anticipated "Suicide Squad" movie.

The Real Madrid star is showing a lot of appreciation for Australia these days and Robbie isn't the only subject of his approval. He is currently in the land down under on a summer tour with his team and he has taken to Instagram to rave about the place.

On Sunday, he posted a photo of himself as he posed in what appeared to be a Melbourne rooftop. He gave a thumbs-up and said: "Nice Melbourne." On Saturday, Real Madrid played against Italian club Roma as part of their summer tour.

While in Australia, Ronaldo also managed to visit his sponsors from Herbalife. He also met some children from the "Save The Children" foundation, a charity organization that he has been openly supporting.
