In a recent interview with MOJO magazine for her comeback promotions, the 67-year old artist recalls the summer of 1971, around the same year that Jim Morrison died, when she and Jean de Breiteuil went to Paris.
Marianne Faithfull purportedly related to the magazine that her ex-boyfriend told her that he was going to visit the then 27-year old The Doors front man's Paris apartment. The singer claimed to have felt that there was trouble afoot with said meeting, the same reason why she stayed behind.
Additionally, the singer also claimed that she could feel trouble through intuition. Marianne Faithfull has also stated that during that time, she thought that Jean de Breiteuil went to see Jim Morrison and killed him.
"I mean, I'm sure it was an accident. Poor [expletive]," she reportedly said. "The smack was too strong? Yeah. And he died. And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."
The Doors front man and poet died in July 3, 1971. He was found in a bathtub and there had been numerous conspiracy theories regarding the star's death and it remains a controversial issue.
His then partner Pamela Courson, has given different accounts regarding Jim Morrison's death, stating vagaries that she either killed the singer himself or that he died because of heroin overdose.
Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist in Jim Morrison's band was also accused of murdering the singer, while others stated that he died of heart failure. Because there were no autopsies done on the singer's body when he died, no one can tell for sure.
On the other hand, in line to this issue, Marianne Faithfull has also discussed the death of Amy Winehouse, who also died of drug-related causes, and died at the same age that Jim Morrison did.
Marianne Faithfull is currently promoting her new album 'Give My Love to London' which is due to be released on September 9.
