Country music couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's breakup announcement over the week has been greeted by speculations about why exactly they decided to end their four-year marriage.

Baby issues are among rumored reasons the couple split, US Weekly reported. Sources said arguments over starting a family allegedly played a role as Shelton wanted to have kids and Lambert apparently was not ready yet. "Both of them have been unhappy for a while," the source added in the report.

Their busy schedules may have also played another part in their marriage breakdown, the news site mentioned. "They were rarely together," a source told the entertainment site in a 2012 interview. Despite Lambert claiming the couple made it a point not to go more than two weeks without seeing each other, being distant due to work played a major role.

It definitely came as an unfortunate shock to friends and family when the couple announced they were getting a divorce, People reported. According to a source close to Lambert, she wanted to make the marriage work and if at all wanted only a brief separation and a time to "reflect," the entertainment site said.

Shelton filed the divorce in Oklahoma on July 6.

Rumors of a third party were not few either after Shelton and Lambert made their announcement. Stories of who cheated who have circulated, and both have denied. In a report by TMZ, Lambert was firm to denounce rumors she was unfaithful to their marriage, and sources close to her slammed Shelton back as the one who strayed with another country singer.

On the other hand, a source close to the "The Voice" host assured People in an interview that the singer was "completely dedicated to Lambert. He hasn't cheated ever, ever, ever. This has really shaken him." 

Meanwhile, both parties have made a Twitter announcement to confirm the divorce. They both changed their Twitter profile pictures from one that spoke about being together to one that showed their individual photos.
