Recently, summer camping in other countries and overseas program become a hotspot topic. To our surprise, after research and interview, it's not wealthy family doing this but some middle class family. Some family has income of RMB 200,000 but spend RMB 70,000 for children on "Cambridge program". Why they can spend one third of annual salary just for go abroad once?

They said, they are willing to spend almost all the money on their children.
Mr. Zhu, from a normal company, told us that his child is good at science but not good at English. He received an advertisement last year about free English test and oversee program.
"I just want to try it and let my child attend this test. But to my surprise he got an A in the test." Then the employees in the organization said his child is potential. So he spent RMB 73,000 for the three weeks Cambridge program instead of go to Taiwan for travelling. After that, even though his child got credit proved from Cambridge, he is still regret because none of university admits this.
From the material of oversee program, the majority of family who are eager let their children attend this program is middle class with annual salary from RMB 150,000 to 300,000 (about $ 25,000 to 45,000). The employees said " we can see that those parents save any penny for their children without any regret."
It's so weird to spend one third of annual salary for this program but it seems very "reasonable" for the parents.
Ms. Tu, a new Shanghai lady, told us, she and her husband have no more than RMB 100,000 every year. But they almost spend every penny on their child exclude some basic needs for living. She said, every child in the school knows at least one musical instrument, knows English, and knows some other skills. They don't want their child lose at the beginning and this is the reason all the parents want to spend lots of money on their children.
But actually some school masters told us, they prefer the children who has a strong logical thinking ability, who had a strong fast learning skills and good communication skills instead of lots of certification.
Hong Lei, a socialist, told us that spend more money doesn't mean the children can grow healthy. It's better to ignite children's interest to study.
