"It is great to have Mylan WTT Smash Hits back in the U.S. and even better that we are making our first trip to Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world," King said about the event. "Smash Hits is one of my favorite and most meaningful events of the year and we are looking forward to a successful and entertaining night this October at Caesars Palace."
Local hero Agassi will be playing for the 13th time in this event, while his wife Steffi is on to her third appearance. Apart from winning grand slams and being inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame, the couple is known for their philanthropy and charity work.
Navratilova, on the other hand, will be participating for the 11th time. The Czech-American is the winner of 167 singles titles including 18 grand slams plus the holder of 177 doubles titles. The 58-year-old is also one of the first players to enter the 1993 Smash Hits event.
Roddick will also be making his Smash Hits appearance for the 11th time. The 32-year-old former US Open Champion is now commentating for BBC and became their analyst for the Wimbledon Championships. Recently, the retired pro was recognized for his work with the British network, leading Sports Illustrated to tweet a praise and the Irish Times to describe his talk at the booth as "smart, incisive and deliciously self-deprecating".
This is the first time that Las Vegas will host the Smash Hits event in its 23-year history. Tickets for the October 12 game will go on sale on July 23 at 10am Pacific Time. General admission seats will be sold at $45 while the Premium chairs will be at $125. Funds raised will benefit local programs in Vegas, Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) and the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).
