(Photo : Getty Images) More ladies have been excelling at online gaming, and the men who have lower game scores than them are taking this in a bad light.
A study by Kasumovic and Kuznekoff on the abuse towards female online players has confirmed what some of us has been thinking all along — the abusive and sex discriminatory players are losers. Ever since female players have gained ground by excelling in online gaming, the males who lose against them have been reacting negatively.

More female top players have experienced being insulted just because they were females. While it was noted that the male players who win are also being verbally abused, the insult that the female players receive were worse than what any male player would receive from those who lost in the online games. This was according to a report by the iDigital Times.
The male players who verbally abuse female players feel confident in doing so since the females rarely shout back at them. The researchers had a video recording of 10 games played randomly with Halo players using pre-recorded comments made by male and female voices interacting to the teammates who were basically clueless. The reactions to the video recordings were then analyzed by the researchers.
Verbal and written abuse are most likely to occur, especially when men feel that they are being outwitted by females in what's supposed to be a man's game. This is because of the general notion that men should remain on top of the hierarchy and women should remain at the bottom.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports of a female online player, Chelsea Sandy, known virtually as xMinks, whose passion for video games made it possible for her to make it a career because of her advanced skills. Sandy claims that she just take the insults as a part of daily living. Sandy streams virtual gunfights for hundreds of viewers on a daily basis.
The researchers have concluded that being harassed has become quite common for female online players and that women have learned to shrug it off. However, there were some instances where female gamers receive positive remarks when they excel in the games that were originally dominated by men, this was according to a report by the Sentinel Republic.
Men, according to Kazumovic and Kuznekoff, should learn to accept that there are times when females can also excel in the games where they primarily dominate. Coping towards the changes that are happening is a more positive experience than sulking over the loss or worse, reacting negatively to it.
