According to a report by The Blaze, the former captain of the English National Football team visited the Gonzalez family and surprised them with brand new iPhones. Not only did they get new phones, the handsets also came with contracts that were prepaid for 10 years!
As if the phone surprise wasn't enough, Beckham then handed Claudia, the family matriarch, a cheque for a whopping US $100,000. The Mirror reports that the Gonzalez family was chosen to appear n the show because Victor Gonzalez, the hed of the family, was a former football player in Mexico. He was forced to give up his career in sports for a job in construction.
Through his hard work, he was able to support his family but he is only able to see him once a month. Beckham was chosen to give them the good news and the surprise gifts. The Mirror states that the show seeks out deserving families and sends their favorite celebrities to reward them with boat loads of money and gifts.
Speaking after leaving the emotional and extremely happy family behind, Beckham shared his own feelings about the experience. "Giving the cheque for $100k, you can see it means so much to them. You can see it has literally changed their lives. I'm very fortunate in my life, and to be able to do this for this family that works so hard, it is an amazing feeling," he said.
Beckham appears to be making a habit out of meeting his fans in recent days. On his Instagram account, he also posted a photo with another family. He says that he met them through Instagram and the father is a long time supporter.
"Knock, Knock Live" allows ordinary people to apply or nominate others who they feel are deserving of some kind of surprise. It may be a large wad of cash, a marriage proposal or chance to meet their favorite celebrities. Whatever it is, the show promises to give life-changing surprises. The show airs every Tuesday on FOX.
