Scores of foreign young men, scantily dressed as Spartan warriors, were arrested in Beijing on Wednesday after marching through the street to promote an organic salad restaurant.
According to Global Times, the estimated 100 faux Spartan warriors are employees of Sweetie Salad restaurant. They were reportedly promoting the outlet with their shirtless display.

CCTV reported that the group had marched through major streets in east Beijing before they were taken into custody. They were reportedly arrested by the police for disturbing public order and ignoring warnings from law enforcement officials.
Scores of onlookers are reported to have crowded around to watch and take pictures of the spectacle created by the faux Spartans. In pictures posted online, members of the group are seen holding cans in a triangle formation. The group is reported to have also chanted advertising phrases. They were reportedly going to deliver salad to people before they were arrested.
It is unclear if any members of the arrested group will face charges or when they'll be released.
Sweetie Salad has released a statement apologizing for the fallout over the advertising stunt. The company says it has communicated with the police and "cleared the misunderstanding."
The over-the-top display was reportedly aimed at marking the first anniversary of Sweetie Restaurant. According to the New York Times, the models were meant to portray an image of good health.
Experts say creating adverts with foreigners or partly clothed models is a common practice in China's highly competitive business environment. Several brands - including Abercrombie & Fitch - have applied this marketing strategy in the country.
However, Chinese authorities strongly disapprove of any public display of nudity. Recently, a Chinese photographer landed in the grips of the law after he conducted a nude photo shoot in the Forbidden City. A statement from officials at the Forbidden City said the photographer's actions are a violation of ethical and moral boundaries. The photographer, who allegedly didn't request permission for the shoot, was also accused of disrespecting the relics.
