(Photo : Reuters) Fiat Chrysler has confirmed that it is offering a new patch that will help address the issues that were highlighted in the recent car hijacking incident.
Recently, two security experts created havoc in the automobile sector when they showed the world a unique software that was able to control the car against the command of the driver. The problem was highlighted when the two experts made a car run on the highway near downtown St. Louis, inspite of being located miles away from it. While the driver was shocked with the activities within the car, the problem surely shows the increased risk that the unsuspecting drivers exposed to.

According to Times of India, Fiat Chrysler has confirmed that it is offering a new patch that will help address the issues that were highlighted in the recent car hijacking incident. The new software will be applicable for some of its selected models that are internet connected. The update will offer improved security protection by successfully reducing the risk of hackers gaining unauthorized access into the vehicle; however, Fiat Chrysler also said that it had so far not across any reports that indicated any of its vehicles being attacked by such hacking projects.
Fiat Chrysler has introduced the software updates for free, exclusively on the UConnect systems. The owners of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram models of the company, made in 2013 and 2014, will be able to access this update while even some models of the 2015 Chrysler 200 will have access to this update. UConnect is also displaying the update on its portal, wherein users can log into this portal and check for updates. The facility will also get to know whether they need the software update or not and all of this is possible by just entering model information.
Another report on Wired explained the details of the hack. Though the process was pioneered by security experts, it has worked well to show the risk that the drivers are being exposed to. The report confirmed that the security experts were able to complete the task entirely through wireless control.
Explaining the work being done by UConnect, the report on Times of India says that the company takes care of entertainment, phone, navigation, voice commands as well as controls.
