Andre Ward claimed that Gennady Golovkin is trying to kill their proposed fight by insisting on a 164 pound catch weight, according to thaboxingvoice.com.

Ward's camp noted that Golovkin had offered to fight Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the super-middleweight limit of 168 pounds., but wouldn't do so against Ward.

Ward, WBA Super World super-middleweight champion, last fought in June against Paul Smith at a 172 pounds after a 19 month lay off, and is making a move to light-heavyweight. He claimed he was walking around 180 and he hasn't fought below 166 since November 2006 when he faced  Derrick Findley.

The 2004 Olympic gold medalist from California has informed his promoter at Roc Nation Sports that he wants to fight Golovkin next, but not at 164 pounds.

He challengde Golovkin to get on with the fight talking less to the media, putting everything in the hands of HBO and their teams.

Ward added that while he's concerned about making a living, he also wants to cement his legacy and walk into the Hall of Fame someday by fighting the best today.

While Ward (28-0, 15 KO's) and  Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO's) have been in negotiations, Ward has also been in talks with Sergey Kovalev for a fight that will be held at the light heavyweight limit of 175 pounds, says Sky Sports.

He expects a fight with Golovkin, who has been  dominating the middleweight division, to be huge.

Golovkin, who according to Boxing News 24 challenged Ward to take "50-50 money" and "50-50 weight,"stopped Willie Monroe Jr. inside the sixth round in May to retain his WBA/IBO titles.

Experts say that Golovkin has a good reason to ask for a catch weight since he have to drop down to 155 to fight the winncer of Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez tussle. He is also hoping to get a crack at pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, which could force him to go dwon to the light middleweight limit of 154 pounds.

Furthermore, Golovkin should be the "A-side" since he was the one that could bring huge ratings, and clearly on his way up.

In fact, experts say Golovkin should just give Ward a-take-it-or-leave-it offer due to his numerous options and is on track to becoming a huge star.
