According to a press release made by Lee Jong Suk's agency, Wellmade Yedang, it has been revealed that he has been a victim of identity theft. Soompi exclusively reports that someone had used Lee Jong Suk's personal information to convince people to make an investment. Lee Jong Suk's agency released the following statement.
"Hello,
We would like to make a statement about the news of Lee Jong Suk's identity theft.
As Lee Jong Suk's management agency, we have confirmed that the perpetrator used Lee Jong Suk's personal information and forged documents, gathering investors with hundreds of millions of won. As soon as we realized this, we filed a case with the police against the perpetrator for forgery of documents and fraud, and he was arrested on July 22. We plan to follow through with this case to the end without showing leniency.
We hope that something like this will not happen to any other celebrities.
Thank you."
The latest reports on the said identity theft clearly explain Lee Jong Suk's Instagram post made recently. Fans were quick to speculate that it was about the dating rumors involving him and his co-star, Park Shin Hye, from "Pinocchio."
"Distressingly, things that I'm not even aware of keep happening," stated the post. However, Lee Jong Suk's agency was swift to claim it was related to personal matters.
Regarding the case of the identity theft, the perpetrator has even managed to start bank accounts under Lee Jong Suk's name. The latest update made by AllKPop claims that the perpetrator is now being held by the police.
"We have learned that the perpetrator used the actor's personal information to create a fake contract, as well as brought in investments using the actor's name. Once we learned of this, we immediately reported this to the police, and the perpetrator is being held at the police station," stated Lee Jong Suk's agency.
For now, Lee Jong Suk has other pressing matters to attend to. As for the dating rumors about him and Park Shin Hye, both their agencies have confirmed that the pair is only close friends and nothing more. This of course has not stopped their fans from hoping that they do date for real.
