An Indian teenager girl cut off the penis of the man who allegedly tried to rape her for the second time.

The girl, from the Madhepura district of Bihar, took a knife to the man who was attempting to rape her and cut his penis off.

The man, who is also the girl's uncle, is now being tracked down by police officials.

The Indian girl notified the village council about the incident. She also reported it to local police when the council didn't take action.

In a statement to the Independent, Alam Nagar police station Superintendent AK Singh said the man "abused" his position as a relative.

"The incident happened 20 days ago. Initially the girl went to the [village council] but when they were unable to resolve the matter, the case was brought to me," Sing said. "We then filed a case at the women's police station."

The girl is about 17 or 18 years old and had already been raped by her uncle in July, according to the Madhepura police.

The uncle is known as a tantric in their area, reports state. A tantric is someone who practices Tantrism and does rituals that involve sexual intercourse.

Reports of sex crimes are prevalent in India, according to India Today. Almost every day, stories emerge regarding sex offenders and crimes of a sexual nature in country.

Reports about such crimes have been given a priority by the media following the gang rape and murder of a Delhi student in 2012. 

The death of the young woman prompted a series of protests and debates in India about women's rights and how they should be treated in society.

After her death, the Indian government authorized the implementation of tougher penalties for those convicted of rape and their cases are now being prioritized in the courts.
