Popular South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun, since his debut, has maintained that he is the only child and has no siblings. This week, there was the birth of a new singer, and this singer turned out to be Soo Hyun's half-sister, Kim Joo Na, who claimed that they grew up together and are close to each other. Soo Hyun has released a statement to clear the confusion because of this new development.

KeyEast, Soo Hyun's management agency, said that he was considering his mother's sentiments when he did not mention about his half-sister and said that he is the only child. The actor "acknowledged himself as an only child from the point of view of his mother and in consideration of her feelings," Korea Boo reported. 

The management agency has requested fans to respect Soo Hyun's previous decision to not disclose that he has a half-sister because he did that only for his mother.

Joo Na made her singing debut in this week's episode of "High Society." Soon after the release of her original soundtrack, OST, a rep. of "High Society" told TV Report that Joo Na and Soo Hyun are brother and sister, and the actor did not mention about her because of their "complicated family situation." The rep. also said that the two grew up together, and they are close to each other.

KeyEast was quick to react, denying that Soo Hyun and Joo Na are close to each other and spent a considerable time together during their childhood. Asia One quoted Soo Hyun's management agency as saying, "It is true that Kim Joo Na is his stepsister but she seems to have no contact with him." The report also said that Joo Na is set to make her full-fledged singing debut next year.

Meanwhile, the fans' reactions online say that they are angry at Joo Na for disclosing the complicated family situation and are accusing her of using Soo Hyun's name to get famous.

Soo Hyun, on the other hand, would like to concentrate on his new movie "Real," the shooting of which is scheduled to begin in October. The actor recently impressed both critics and audience with his performance as a goofy, rookie PD in KBS drama "The Producers."
