China Rainstorms Kills 6, Continue Horrifying Downpour

The rainstorms in China continue to spread their horrifying downpour as death toll reached six Friday. According to authorities, the heavy rains have devastated several provinces, causing crops to die, houses to collapse and highways to become too risky to drive over.
China.org.cn reports that more than a million of people have already been affected by the rainstorms, especially those residing in Hunan Province, Liancheng County and Longyan City.

In Hunan, over 9,000 people were asked to relocate since the strong downpour began Wednesday. In the said province alone, authorities found that at least 19,800 hectares of farmland were damaged and over 361,000 residents were affected.
In Liangcheng County, authorities confirmed that six people have died amid the rainstorms, four others are currently missing. The power supply in the area has also been interrupted while the streets have been blocked.
As for Longyan City, authorities reported that over 3,200 houses collapsed amid the downpour and over 323,000 residents were greatly affected.
Other areas in the country were also greatly affected by the rainstorms. As per Xinhuanet News, China's Hubei Province also suffered the same fate, with local officials confirming that almost 360,700 people were affected by the storm.
Hubei's capital city, Wuhan, even experienced over 100mm of precipitation, and the meteorological department issued a red weather alert in the area.
In light of the alarming weather problem in Hubei, the provincial government has announced that it has allocated 138 million yuan as relief fund to affected citizens.
In Guangdong, torrential rains affected over 288,700 people, forcing 11,400 residents to evacuate amid the very strong downpour.
In China's eastern Fujian Province, the rainstorms started on Sunday. The movement of the rain then led the heavy downpour toward the western and central parts of the province, and over 420,000 people were affected.
According to the latest update from the weather bureau, the heavy rain is expected to continue until Saturday, The New Indian Express reported.
Many areas affected by the rain continue to experience power outages, traffic issues, water supply problems and telecommunication service issues.
