The term breakup no longer needs a lengthy explanation when the name Grigor Dimitrov comes up. The Monte Carlo resident and his famous counterpart Maria Sharapova have ended their relationship and it's possible for this news to linger in the media for days.

Sharapova remains mum about the issue but Dimitrov explained the reason to Bulgarian media: "Our paths split. We experienced wonderful moments together. I wish her much happiness and success in life and in tennis. Now I'm concentrated entirely on the game and I'm sure the results will soon be seen. This is the summer of the new beginning of me."

Of course, love doesn't really decide the course of one's tennis career and winning can be attributed to many things that go far beyond romantic strolls in Madrid, but the split could indeed be beneficial for Baby Fed who is, as many tennis analysts believe, poised for greatness.

Earlier this year, senior writers of Tennis Magazine shared their thoughts on the world no. 16 and how he can be a future grand slam champion. For instance, Peter Bodo highlighted Dimitrov's versatility as a threat on all surfaces. Ed McGrogan, meanwhile, praised the Bulgarian's fiery serve and groundstrokes that fuse into a formidable playing style that only a few champions exhibit.

Let's not forget that Dimitrov has also shown potential being a semifinalist once at Wimbledon and winning four titles in his young career so far - he, in fact, won three tournaments on three different surfaces last year. Take into consideration the fact that he also ended his 2-year coaching relationship with Roger Rasheed, which means that the 24-year-old wants his career to soar and maybe, a few changes are necessary.

Dimitrov recently won his Davis Cup match against Luxembourg and he is on to Washington DC on the first week of August for the Citi Open where he is the fourth seed. The tournament lists other greats like Andy Murray, Kei Nishikori and the reigning US Open Champion Marin Cilic. And with those names in the draw, it may still be a tough road for Dimitrov who is currently standing at 22-13 for the year with no tournament wins. But with this latest rejuvenated transition, he may just surprise all of us.
