17 Chinese Tourists Hurt in Thailand Bus Accident

At least 17 Chinese tourists who wanted to have a nice time in Thailand were instead hurt when the bus they boarded overturned in Phuket on Sunday, authorities said.

At least 17 Chinese tourists who wanted to have a nice time in Thailand were instead hurt when the bus they boarded overturned in Phuket on Sunday, authorities said.
According to the statement released by the Chinese consular's office in Phuket Province, the tourists were on their way to a famous tourist destination when the accident occurred.

The bus was trudging the Bypass Road in Phuket when the accident occurred at around 12 p.m.
Of the 17 Chinese tourists who were reportedly injured, one sustained serious injuries. All of them were rushed to a nearby hospital, the consular office announced.
The names of the victims as well the circumstance behind the accident were not immediately disclosed as authorities were still investigating the incident.
The consular office in Phuket, however, said that no one was killed in the accident.
It was just last March when three Chinese tourists died after the bus they boarded crashed in Phuket Island.
The bus was carrying 18 Chinese tourists when the accident happened, the Chinese consul said. The 15 other Chinese tourists were injured.
The bus reportedly lost its brakes while on its way to a popular resort in Phuket. The vehicle rolled over and fell into the valley.
Thailand is among the top destinations of the more than 100 million Chinese tourists who are looking for exotic attractions.
The number of Chinese tourists traveling abroad is expected to further rise this year and Southeast Asia is among the top regions for the travelers from China.
Around the world, countries prepare for the influx of Chinese travelers, even offering free visas and other perks just to entice the wealthy tourists from China.'
Data released by the China National Tourism Administration showed that only 10 million Chinese tourists traveled abroad 15 years ago. In 2013, more than 100 million tourists made international trips.
The data also showed that most of the trips by Chinese tourists in 2013 were within Asia and Greater China.
