Directed by Zack Snyder, the highly anticipated superhero movie had initially been set to premiere on May 6 of such year, similar to that of Marvel's "Captain America 3".
Ben Affleck is featured in "Batman v Superman; Dawn of Justice" as Batman along with Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
While Warner Bros. did back off from showing Batman and Superman's latest film head-to-head with Captain America, it has promised nine more untitled movies based on DC Comics properties with release dates until 2020, following the "Batman v Superman" film.
While no titles were announced, the unnamed movies will open on Aug. 5, 2016; June 23 and Nov. 17, 2017; March 23 and July 27, 2018; April 5 and June 14, 2019; and April 3 and June 19, 2020.
The release dates, however, may still change or be cancelled depending on the performance of future movie releases.
All in all, 10 films between 2016 and 2020 have been formally announced, possibly indicating DC's interest in competing against Marvel's own lineup of movies, which currently has at least 11 upcoming films planned until 2019.
While no details were disclosed on the Warner Bros. films, possible candidates for the superhero movie rivalry with Marvel may include a "Justice League" movie to take on the "Avengers: and a standalone flick for "Wonder Woman".
Other popular characters from DC Comics that are likely to come to life in the big screen include Cyborg, Shazam, and Aquaman.
The latest movie release dates from Warner Bros. also follows Sony's changes in the release of its Amazing Spider-Man franchise, including the "Sinister Six" and "Venom" movies.
