In spite of the controversies that surrounded their relationship, Hallyu superstar Bae Yong-joon and Sugar singer Park Soo-jin finally exchanged "I do" during a solemn ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul on July 28. The private gathering was attended by the couple's families and close friends.

Unable to contain his happiness and excitement hours before the wedding, Bae posted his and Park's pre-nuptial picture on Instagram and wrote, "Everyone's blessings will always be my greatest source of strength. I am sorry I cannot be with everyone but I will remember your love. I will live well and share my happiness often with everyone. Thank you! You must also stay happy!"

Little did the 42-year-old actor know that more than 200 fans have trooped to the wedding venue, with quite a number already booked at the hotel to share the couple's special day even from a distance. Among Bae's hardcore supporters were middle-aged women and fans who flew all the way from Japan just to show love for their "Yon-sama" or "Emperor Yon" (a Japanese honorific he is fondly called). Bae's admirers remained rooted on their roadside queue amid the light rain, protected only by their hats, umbrellas, and fans.

"We understand that many of Bae's Japanese fans arrived in South Korea to see the wedding from a a week ago," a Keyeast Entertainment official told Strait Times.

Among the friends that graced the wedding were actor Kim Soo-hyun ("My Love from the Star" and "The Producers"), actress Im Soo-jung ("A Tale of Two Sisters"), actor Park Seo-joon ("Running Man"), and Lee Hyun-woo ("Scholar Who Walks the Night"). JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young was said to have performed along with singers The One and Shin Yong-jae.

According to reports, the new husband and wife will have their honeymoon the day after at a resort on the southern coast of the country. Bae and Park began dating in February and became engaged in May. The whirlwind romance prompted speculations that Park might be pregnant. This was slammed by the couple's agency Keyeast, which threatened to file lawsuit against anyone who will continue to spread the rumor.
