Kroger Recalls 4 Of Its Spices, Seasonings

Kroger Co. has recalled four of its spices from the market due to Salmonella contamination in the products found when tested by FDA. The spices include Kroger garlic powder, Kroger ground cinnamon, Kroger Bac'n Buds and Kroger coarse ground black pepper.
FDA tested a sample of Kroger garlic powder from a store in in North Augusta, South Carolina and found Salmonella contamination in them. It is to be noted that no illness in association with consumption of these products are reported by far. The company recalled four of its products out of abundant caution around the end of the last week. Kroger recalled four spices though only garlic powder was tested positive for bacterial contamination because they are produced in the same equipment, according to USA Today.

FDA announced the Kroger recall: "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 25, 2015 - Cincinnati, Ohio - The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) said today it is recalling Kroger Ground Cinnamon, Kroger Garlic Powder, Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper and Kroger Bac'n Buds sold in its retail stores due to possible contamination from Salmonella," reported WRAL.
The products that are recalled are sold in retail stores in portions of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The recalled items also were sold in other Kroger system stores, including Jay C., Dillons, King Soopers, Fry's, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food 4 Less and Smiths.
The four seasonings and spices on the recall list include the following, according to CBS News:
- Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper, 17.1 oz size. SKU 1111070041 Sell by: May 18, 2018 Sell by: May 19, 2018
- Kroger Bac'n Buds, 12.0 oz size. SKU 1111070025, Sell by: May 20 2018
- Kroger Garlic Powder, 24.7 oz size. SKU 1111070039, Sell by: May 18 2017
- Kroger Ground Cinnamon, 18.3 oz size. SKU 1111070034, Sell by: May 19, 2018
The customers that purchased any of the spices in the recall list are requested to return the product in the respective store and obtain replacement for the product or a full refund.
